Craig Ranch, named one of DFW’s top seven master-planned communities, was developed with health and wellness as its focus. And it goes well beyond the top-rated TPC Craig Ranch golf course and the Craig Ranch Fitness & Spa. Challenge yourself: You can outfit and train for a triathlon at the world’s biggest triathlon store. Have fun: Join a beach volleyball league at The Beach sand courts. Help your child grow: Whatever your child’s interest, Craig Ranch has what you need to nurture it. There are soccer and baseball fields for youth and adult leagues. And Craig Ranch has attracted the best in medical providers — right in the neighborhood.
Baseball. At the Ballfields at Craig Ranch, you can watch your kids play — along with collegiate all-stars, state champs and youth World Series teams. Because of its size and amenities, this complex attracts tournament teams from all over the United States and even Mexico. (And spectators are, for the most part, free!) The complex includes eight youth fields for baseball, plus five additional baseball/softball fields for all ages and levels. The complex also has two professional-size fields with locker rooms and seating for 2,500 fans. But, at the Ballfields, your child not only plays — but also learns how to play well. The complex has a 60,000-square-foot training academy, lauded as a state-of the-art teaching facility for youth, managed under the direction of former Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher and Hall of Fame candidate Mike Henneman. The complex hosts one of the top three Relay for Life fundraisers in the region, plus the annual Strikes Against Cancer fundraiser, started by a McKinney boy whose mother has cancer.
Soccer. If you have kids, then you know your spring and fall weekends are filled with soccer. In your new community, you won’t spend all day Saturday commuting to and from the games — the soccer fields are right here, at the McKinney Soccer Fields at Craig Ranch. The complex has 12 full-size fields and a championship field, all lighted and with bleachers, concessions and restrooms. League play is managed by the McKinney Soccer Association. The biggest tournament every year is Flamefest, when more than 150 teams play over Father’s Day weekend. Tournament play typically draws players from across the North Texas-Oklahoma region. And, although soccer is the biggest sport played at the fields, lacrosse and flag football team tourneys are growing in popularity. Kids don’t play? You can still watch — all games are open and free to spectators.
“Both my wife and I exercise daily. A big amenity is to be able to walk out my front door and walk to the Craig Ranch Fitness & Spa facility in five minutes.” – Craig Ranch resident
Triathlons. Playtri, Dallas’ top destination for triathletes, has announced plans to open a 10,908-square-foot store in Times Square at Craig Ranch. When it opens in May, the new Playtri store will become the biggest triathlon store in the world, offering the most bikes, gear and tools for triathletes. Playtri’s onsite coaches and sports nutritionists deliver personalized health counseling, expert training and various fitness testing at the store’s Performance Center. The company also has a store on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.
Hockey. Dr Pepper Star Center. You don’t need to search across the Metroplex to find a hockey or figure skating venue for your child — Craig Ranch is home to a Dr. Pepper Star Center facility, where your kids can join a youth league and train with Olympic Gold medalists and other high-level experts in figure skating, ice dancing, freestyle and hockey. Or catch a match with the Dallas Stars, join a league, book a party or enjoy a day at the rink practicing your axel jump.
Amateur and pro sports training. Your teen wants to be at the top of his game — and you now have the tools you need to help him achieve it, right in your new neighborhood! At the Michael Johnson Performance Center, your school-age athlete can learn what it takes to become a scholarship-winning player. MJP trains professional and amateur athletes, beginning with youth teams, for excellence on the field, court, track or ice. Members of the Dallas Cowboys, the NHL’s Dallas Stars and the FC Dallas pro soccer team train here — so your kids are in good company.
Trails. The fitness trails running through the heart of Craig Ranch are part of a six-city hike and bike trail, wound throughout the Metroplex. The Six Cities Trail Plan is a project between McKinney, Frisco, Plano, Allen, Garland and Richardson. The plan aims to eventually create a fluid network between all six cities — allowing Craig Ranch residents to bike to work or school. In Craig Ranch, some of the trails are rubberized to lessen the wear and tear on joints — and they take you right past the Craig Ranch Fitness & Spa, if you’d like to walk, run or bike to your workout.
Volleyball. The Beach at Craig Ranch has 12 sand courts that move seamlessly between volleyball, soccer and tennis matches for tournaments, leagues, camps and special events. The on-site restaurant, Bermuda’s, provides healthy sustenance.
Medical facilities. It’s 10 p.m. and your child’s fever has spiked. It’s OK — hop in the car and take just a short ride through the neighborhood to ACute Kids Urgent Care. Craig Ranch was built with not only fitness but also your health in mind. You can find many of the medical services you use regularly, from primary care to diagnostics to therapy and from pre-natal to retirement, in the growing medical community at Craig Ranch. The services range from basic to cutting edge, including health consultations, counseling and group therapy sessions designed to merge physical and emotional wellbeing. Seminars and weekend retreats teach and reinforce practices and skills, such as mindfulness, that can lead to healthier choices, and a more joyful quality of life. The Craig Ranch Fitness & Spa integrative wellness offerings also include yoga and Pilates classes, healing massage therapy, nutritional coaching for adults and youth, and Airrosti injury recovery. The community also hosts, Baylor Diagnostic Imaging Center, and Craig Ranch OB/GYN.
